Cato Networks acquires Aim Security to secure enterprise AI workflows

Cato Networks, a leading Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) has acquired Aim Security to strengthen enterprise protection against AI-related security threats, marking the SASE leader’s first acquisition as artificial intelligence workflows create new attack vectors against businesses.

The acquisition of Aim Security, an Israeli enterprise-grade GenAI security platform, brings to fore the increasing urgency and need for companies to secure their AI-powered operations.

Aim Security has quickly gained recognition for its comprehensive AI security platform tailored to protect enterprises from evolving AI-related cyber threats. In fact, the company is known to have come up with the phrase “AI Security” after OpenAI released ChatGPT to the world three years ago.

“Well before the advent of copilots, agents, and MCP servers – we pioneered the term AI Security – a concept that was new and often misunderstood,” Matan Getz, co-founder and CEO of Aim Security, said in a blog post. “We partnered with our customers, bringing a learning mindset and domain expertise to the table. We listened intently to their challenges while also guiding them on a secure path to AI adoption.”

    Why this acquisition matters

AI technologies are transforming business operations at an unprecedented pace. From AI agents assisting employees to complex AI-driven applications managing critical processes, enterprises are very much dependent on the new technology.

This dependency, however, introduces new security, privacy and compliance risks, as AI workflows are susceptible to unique attack vectors such as prompt injection and/or manipulation, data leakage, and infiltration by malicious AI agents.

Just last month, Anthropic, a leading AI security research company, reported the malicious use of Claude by hackers. These hackers used the company’s AI-powered chatbot Claude for vibe-hacking, where Claude Code was used to penetrate networks and stealthily extract confidential information across many organizations.

There were also cases of using Claude to commit remote-worker fraud and to generate malware that was later sold by threat actors on the dark web.

Under these circumstances, traditional cybersecurity tools and defenses hold no water, especially in the face of AI-powered cyberattacks. They are ill-equipped to handle the dynamic and unique threats that come alongside the development of the technology which makes AI-specific security solutions pivotal to the cybersecurity ecosystem.

Cato Networks recognized this pressing need and seized the opportunity to integrate Aim Security’s advanced capabilities into its existing SASE Cloud Platform.

Aim Security’s AI protection offerings and framework

Aim Security brings a unique full-stack AI defense system that protects enterprises across all stages of AI adoption. According to Cato, their platform offers:

    • Public AI Application Security: Monitoring and securing employee use of generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot to mitigate shadow AI risks
    • Private AI Application Protection: Employing an AI firewall to guard internal AI agents and custom AI applications against runtime threats and policy violations.
    • AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM): Aim security also offers continuous scanning for vulnerabilities during AI development lifecycles to ensure secure deployment and operation.

This comprehensive approach will enable organizations to confidently accelerate AI initiatives without exposing themselves to new, potentially devastating risks.

“One of the world’s largest financial services companies deployed Aim to secure its AI adoption,” said Getz in Cato’s press release. “Aim had purpose-built a broad AI security platform, grounded in cutting-edge research and patented technology, designed to seamlessly integrate into complex enterprise environments. Aim’s solutions enable businesses to securely reap the benefits of their AI investments.”

Cato Networks and Aim Security: What this means for enterprises

As AI becomes central to business innovation, securing AI workflows has become a priority for enterprises to avoid operational disruptions, data breaches, and compliance failures. Cato Networks’ acquisition of Aim Security positions it uniquely to lead the convergence of networking, security, and AI protection in a single, elegant platform.

With Aim Security’s technology embedded into Cato’s SASE Cloud Platform, enterprises can expect a unified, cloud-native security environment that covers all enterprise interactions, from traditional data traffic to AI-driven workflows.

This consolidation, to a degree, simplifies AI security management, reduces complexity, and accelerates the safe integration of AI agents and applications enterprise-wide.

“AI transformation will eclipse digital transformation as the main force that will shape enterprises over the next decade,” said Shlomo Kramer, CEO and co-founder of Cato Networks. “With the acquisition of Aim Security, we’re turbo-charging our SASE platform with advanced AI security capabilities to secure our customers’ journey into the new and exciting AI era.”
