SK Hynix Just Raised $26.5 Billion on Nasdaq in One of the Largest U.S. Equity Offerings Any Asian Company Has Ever Completed. The Money Has One Destination and It Is Not Coming Back.

SK Hynix has secured $26.5 billion from its Nasdaq listing, giving the South Korean chip giant one of the biggest equity offerings ever completed by a foreign company in the United States.

The deal reflects strong investor confidence in the company at a time when demand for artificial intelligence (AI) chips continues to reshape the semiconductor industry.

The company sold 177.9 million American Depositary Shares priced at $149 each, with every 10 depositary shares representing one common share listed in South Korea. The offering drew demand that reportedly exceeded the available shares by more than seven times before pricing.

The Cash is Headed into AI Chip Production

SK Hynix has made it clear that the money is intended to expand its manufacturing capacity. The company plans to invest in new fabrication facilities and production equipment needed to meet rapidly growing demand for advanced memory chips used in AI systems.

This strategy reflects where the company currently sits in the AI supply chain. SK Hynix is the leading supplier of high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips. These chips are essential for training and running advanced AI models because they move data much faster than traditional memory. They are also a key component in AI processors produced by companies such as Nvidia.

The company has spent the past two years benefiting from a surge in AI infrastructure spending, as cloud providers and technology companies continue to increase investment in AI data centers, creating sustained demand for advanced memory products.

A Record-Setting Moment for Foreign Listings

The Nasdaq listing ranks among the largest U.S. equity offerings ever completed by a foreign company. As the second-largest IPO in U.S. market history, it also highlights how AI focused semiconductor companies have become some of the market’s biggest beneficiaries as investors continue searching for more exposure to the AI boom.

Nasdaq President Nelson Griggs described the listing as another example of global technology companies turning to U.S. capital markets to support long term growth. During the company’s market debut, SK Hynix Chief Executive Kwak Noh Jung said the listing would make it easier for global investors to participate in the company’s future while supporting its next stage of expansion.

Investors are Backing More than Today’s Business

The success of the offering was not simply about adding another stock to Nasdaq. Investors were placing a bet that demand for AI infrastructure will continue for years and that SK Hynix will remain one of the companies supplying the technology behind it.

As AI demand grows, SK Hynix is preparing for another wave of AI expansion, using fresh capital to strengthen its position in one of the world’s fastest growing technology markets.
