Setting new records in space launch cadence and infrastructure scale, SpaceX has expanded its Starlink satellite constellation with the recent deployment of 24 more satellites, bringing SpaceX’s deployment to over 2,000 in this year alone. This expansion highlights SpaceX’s unwavering commitment to revolutionize global internet access through its ambitious broadband satellite network Starlink.

SpaceX recently launched a Falcon 9 rocket to deploy 24 more Starlink V2 mini satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The Falcon 9 booster used in this launch also completed its record 20th flight.

As such, SpaceX’s Starlink constellation now comprises over 8,000 active satellites in low-Earth orbit, representing approximately 65% of all active satellites worldwide. The rapid deployment of these satellites also supports Starlink’s global internet service expansion, which now covers about 130 countries and serves more than 6 million active users worldwide.

A notable portion of these satellites also features Direct-to-Cell technology, designed to act as space-based cell towers, providing 5G coverage without the need for specialized user hardware.

This achievement comes a month after Starlink suffered an outage that lasted for over two hours, which means this recent deployment might pave the way for course correction and preventing future outages.

SpaceX’s momentum in launching Starlink satellites this year has been applaudable so far. The combination of advanced satellite technology, high-frequency launches, and a global expansion strategy positions Starlink as a dominant force in satellite internet connectivity worldwide.
